Tilden Document Signed American statesman (1814-1886) who served as Governor of New York and who was the unsuccessful Democratic presidential candidate in the infamous disputed election of 1876. Partly-printed DS, one page, 16.75 x 23.25, February 1, 1866. Large and impressive first mortgage bond for the Indiana Southern Railway Company in the amount of $1000, with 59 of the coupons intact. Signed on the front by the company's secretary and president; framed with a plaque indicating that Tilden has signed the back of the document, but RR Auction has not examined the document out of the frame. Impressively double-matted and framed with a portrait and plaque to an overall size of 25.25 x 41. In fine condition.
