John Hancock War-Dated Signature as Massachusetts Governor (1781) Revolutionary War-dated ink signature as governor of Massachusetts, "John Hancock,” on an off-white 11 x 5.75 sheet clipped from a partly-printed military document dated July 1, 1781, and countersigned by Secretary John Avery. In very good to fine condition, with a fold split, and a small area of paper loss, affecting Hancock's boldly signed last name. Accompanied by an engraved portrait with a facsimile signature.
