Antique Reception "Praying Boy from Rhodes" 19th century, foundry mark Akt.-Ges. Gladenbeck on the reverse, further indistinct number D1484?, brown and green patinated bronze, replica of an original excavated in Rhodes around 1500, which is dated around 300 BC and was found without arms, it was owned by well-known personalities such as Frederick II, where it was displayed in Sanssouci Palace and later came to the Louvre as a spoil of war by Napoleon I, today it is in the art collections in Berlin (inventory number SKII), with the changes in ownership the interpretations of the motif also changed, today it is generally known as the Praying Boy, mounted on a small onyx bowl, this with small restored losses, signs of age, h bronze 12.5 cm, h total 15.5 cm.
