Royal Naval Reserve Long Service Medal (EVIIR) named to: V309 J Banaghan Sto RNR (stoker). Joseph Banaghan was a professional merchant seaman (donkeyman, or engine room mechanic) who was born in Stirling in 1869. He served for many years in the RNR, including a period of embodied service with the Royal Navy during the First World War in which he served afloat in North Russia in 1918 and was awarded the British War Medal and Victory Medal and also the 1918 Service Chevron. He was awarded the RNR LS & GC Medal at Glasgow on 8 July 1911. He died in 1942 aged 72. With copies of RNR and RN records of service and a brief biographical note. Good Very Fine (GVF) condition.
