Description

Nicolas René Dufriche - Desgenettes (1762 - 1837 ), gilded silver cup, chief doctor of the French Army in the East and first doctor of the Napoleonic Imperial guard during the Hundred Days, in 1819, the year engraved on the cup, he was appointed commander of the Legion of Honor and his name was engraved on this cup. At the base of the same as the bottom of the basin is the silver medal minted in 1809 to commemorate the establishment of the Illyrian provinces by Napoleon. Diameter of the medal approximately 40.4 - 40.7 mm, framed outline with NAPOLEON on the obverse EMP - ET ROY with graduated head on the right and on the neck cut ANDRIEU F. On the reverse, heifer suckling the calf surmounted by a club and in the exergue: CONQUETE DE L'ILLYRIE = M. DCCCIX , in low the engravers DE PAULIS F DENON D. The cup has comma sockets with heads of harpies, along the edge winged victories and bees together with an Imperial eagle in relief. Engraved along the body "1804. 1814 military epic". The ring foot is decorated with engraved palmettes. Gr. 326 Conditions: defects on the instep, medal wear as from use over time.
