OPERA - PUCCINI Giacomo (1858 - 1924) - Unpublished autograph letter signed Unpublished autograph letter signed, dated “28 - VI . 10” by the celebrated Italian composer. Puccini addresses the Contessina “Lula” Giulia Digerini Nuti: “…Chantecler mi ha comunicato in parole la risposta della tua lettera – È facile ch’io venga con Tonio [his son Antonio Puccini] in auto a piena domenica. Il palio sarà certo nel pomeriggio – (…) la prego cartolinarmi caso mai lo spettacolo che io non conosco, fosse nella mattinata…”. Giulia Digerini Nuti (1876-1953), familiarly called 'Lula' by Puccini, was the daughter of Count Andrea Digerini Nuti and Marianna Ginori Lisci, sister of Carlo Benedetto. She lived for a long time on the shore of Lake Massaciuccoli, on the Ginori estate 'La Piaggetta', together with her cousin Maria Bianca Ginori Lisco, also a close friend of the Maestro. There is no information as to whether the Maestro actually travelled to Siena to attend the Palio. For the record, the Palio of 3 July 1910 was won by the contrada del Valdimontone. 1 p. with letterhead “Torre del Lago/Toscana”. - This item is under temporary import.
