OPERA - ARIMONDI Vittorio (1861 - 1928) - Cabinet-card photographic portrait with autograph dedication signed Cabinet-card photographic portrait with autograph dedication signed, dated “Lisbona 904” by the Italian bass singer. He made his debut in 1883 in Varese with D. J. Gomez's Guarany . He then began a career that took him from the minor Italian theaters, where he especially played the parts of Count Rodolfa in V. Bellini's Sonnambula , the king in Aida and Sparafucile in G. Verdi's Rigoletto. In 1893 he was cast at La Scala in Milan as Pistola for the first performance of Verdi's Falstaff. In New York, he sang at the Metropolitan in the 1895-1896 season and at the Manhattan in the years 1906 to 1910; in Chicago, he took part in the opera seasons from 1910-1911 to 1920. In the latter city he remained, after retiring from the stage, teaching singing at the Fine Arts Building and then at the Chicago Music College. (20 x 30 cm). - This item is under temporary import.
