HISTORY - ROOSEVELT Eleanor (1884 - 1962) - Autograph signature Autograph signature (Seattle 1953) on illustrated first day cover postcard by the American political figure, diplomat, and activist. She was the first lady of the United States from 1933 to 1945, during her husband Franklin D. Roosevelt's four terms as president, making her the longest-serving first lady of the United States. She served as the first chair of the UN Commission on Human Rights and oversaw the drafting of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Postcard issued on the first day of the inauguration of the aircraft carrier USS Franklin D. Roosevelt dedicated to the US President, just a few weeks after his death.
