SCIENCE - MONGE Gaspard (1746 - 1818) - Autograph letter signed Autograph letter signed, dated “Paris le 24 Janvier 1810” by the French mathematician. Often presented as the inventor of descriptive geometry, the mathematical basis of technical drawing, and the father of differential geometry. During the French Revolution he served as the Minister of the Marine, and was involved in the reform of the French educational system, helping to found the École Polytechnique. Addressed to the Duke of Gaeta and Minister of Finances Martin Michel Charles Gaudin (1756 - 1841): “Le Préfet du département de la Sarre a du mettre M. Paquin au nombre des candidats qu’il a présentés à Votre excellence pour la place de Percepteur des Contributions directes à Mesenheim….”. 1 p. In-4. - This item is under temporary import.
