Rare horn box with silver mounting. Cylindrical body with hinged, slightly domed lid. The lid with lavish, open-worked silver inlays, decorated in relief. The central profile depicting Louis XV, King of France and Navarre (1710-1774). Inscribed all around "Ludovicus XV Christianissimus" and decorated with symbols such as a pair of scales, a walking lion, the French heraldic animal - a walking cockerel and a staff of Hermes. The underside decorated with a rosette. Signs of wear due to age, rest; h. 3 cm. D. 7.5 cm. A rare French silver mounted horn snuff box with profile of King Louis XV of France. Age-related signs of use, restored. France. 2nd half 18th century.
