Very beautiful and precious small PEREPEDIL (Caucasus) rug, late 19th century Technical characteristics: Wool velvet on wool foundation. "Wurmas", Kindjals with ram's horn guards (Kotchaks), zoomorphic medallions, birds and stylized floral compositions share the anthracite field of this work. Entomological shapes, florets and "S" complete the pattern. The main ivory border, with a succession of polychrome baguettes and Medes stars, is framed by a brick counter-border with broken ribbons and another with two-tone chess pawns.
