Description

Table clock featuring a female victory. circa 1840-1850. The case is in gilded bronze with full matte finish. With leafy scrolled feet starting from a rosette-decorated eye. The terrace is decorated in bas-relief with leaves and laurels, joining in the center a helmet and a sword. The clock is set within a wall simulating the collapse of the ramparts, crossed by a female figure holding a standard in one hand and a sword (no longer in existence) in the dexter. This is a romantic representation of Joan of Arc, treated as Antiope, Queen of the Amazons, here as a warrior at the siege of Orleans. Paris" mechanical movement bearing the mark of Sirost, a pendulum maker in Paris in the first half of the 19th century. Silk thread suspension. Height 53 cm, width 35 cm, depth 12 cm Under its globe, with its inlaid floral wood veneer base. The sword is missing. Repairs and maintenance, gilding in good condition. Operation not guaranteed.
