Description

Large sideboard with molded walnut top The sides receive a flat scalloped panel. The front opens to reveal two doors with molded and scalloped panels. The two front crosspieces are adorned with a frieze of "posts" and the lower crosspiece with olive leaves and an openwork vase in the center. Rounded legs adorned with a high acanthus leaf. Small scrolled base, worn. Provencal work, probably from the town of Nîmes, 18th c. Height 89 cm, width 174.5 cm, depth 63 cm Very fine carved ornamentation. Restorations on the rear jambs. Scrolls on the front legs to be restored. This piece of furniture with a removable top was used as a kneading trough. On the inside of our cabinet, bevels cut to accommodate the bowl are visible at the top of the legs. We would like to thank Franck Baptiste, furniture expert at the CNES, for these indications.
