Anthropomorphic bellows of the Shira or Punu - Gabon, Central Africa - Long, slender body, in the center two leather-covered bowl chambers, from which fire could be kindled, e.g. for a forge, via the conical tubes, as the upper end a small, white painted mask face with scarification marks and a loop under the chin. Wood and leather. 90 x 32 x 28 cm. - Signs of age, chips and losses, probably due to termite damage. - From a southern German private collection.
