Helmet mask "Agbogho Mmwo" of the Ibo (Igbo) - Nigeria, West Africa - Mask type of a "beautiful girl"; the oval face with scarification marks, geometrically ornamented hairstyle on the head with a high, ovoid, openwork attachment modeled on the old braided hairstyles of the young girls of the Igbo and Idoma; pierced around the edges. Carved wood, painted in black, white and skin colors with a little red and blue. 42 x 22 x 41 cm. - Signs of age and wear, shrinkage cracks, one tip broken off, one bumped. - From a southern German private collection.
