A pair of Chiwara dance masks of the Bambara - Mali, West Africa - Horizontal top in the shape of an abstracted antelope head with the ears of an aardvark and very long horns, the eyes of mirror glass, the long neck on the back of a fully sculpted pangolin, hemispherical head bowl, body and head with ornamental notched carving. Wood. Each 41.5 x 95 x 17 cm. - Signs of age, one bowl with chips. - From a southern German private collection.
