Description

Museal salon group - probably from the St. Petersburg factory of Roman Fedorovich Melzer - 4 pieces. Consisting of a sofa, table, armchair and chair; on high, curved legs, partly curved frame with upholstered seat, variously openworked backrests, sofa and chair with back cushions, the legs of the small table connected by four curved crosspieces with quatrefoil, curved frame and protruding, profiled top; filigree inlays with garlands and tendrils, armchair with a pair of birds, medallion in the table with torch and quiver. Mahogany, boxwood, ivory. Table 71 x 70 x 52 cm, sofa 80 x 42 x 113 x 52 cm, armchair 83.5 x 43 x 41.5 x 48 cm, chair 84.6 x 40.9 x 43 x 42 cm. - The suite was on loan from a private collection to the Germanisches Nationalmuseum between 1996 and 2024 (inv. no. HG 12897 to HG 12900). - According to the owners, there is identical furniture in a St. Petersburg museum (Hermitage?). - Due to current regulations, a sale can only take place within the European Community, the required EC marketing certificate (CITES) is available.
