Magnificent centrepiece with grotesque decoration - Urbino, E. 19th century - Oval shape, the center convex and painted with Arion, the son of the sea god Poseidon, fleeing with his lyre on the back of the dolphin rushing to his aid, the rise consisting of four fields divided by mascaron bands in relief with grotesque painting, the protruding flag also decorated with mythical creatures. White-glazed majolica with polychrome painting. Blue mark with ligatured "AB" and "P" to the base.45.5 x 55.5 cm. - In wooden mount, restored to the rim. - In the style of the workshop of Orazio Fontana (1510-1571).
