Pair of Empire sphinxes - France, c. 1810 - Rectangular plinth with rounded, indented corners on the front and back, surrounding foliate frieze, each surmounted by a sphinx in the form of a resting, winged lion with a woman's head and breast. Bronze with remnants of fire gilding. 13 x 23.2 x 9.8 cm.
