Martinuzzi, Napoleone (attrib.) - Rare decorative handle vase - (Murano 1892-1977 Venice) Design for Zecchin Martinuzzi, c. 1932. Fused ovoid body with short tubular neck on a round, slightly high arched foot, decorative handles rolled into volutes on the sides, the rim of the mouth with circumferential fused glass thread. White underlaid, cream-colored smoked glass, handle and mouth black glass with melted gold flakes. H. 35.5 cm. - The manufactory was founded in 1932 by the sculptor Martinuzzi and the engineer Francesco Zecchin and was represented at the Biennale in 1932 and 1934. Although the manufactory had to close at the end of the 1930s, it had a great influence on the other glass manufacturers in Venice.
