Gaush, Alexandre Fedorovich - Summery Crimean landscape - (St. Petersburg 1873-1947 Simferopol) Houses nestled in a hilly landscape between bushes and deciduous trees. Oil on canvas. Signed lower right. 54 x 69 cm. - Canvas somewhat wavy. - Gaush studied at the St. Petersburg Academy of Art from 1893 to 1899 and is known for his Impressionist landscapes. Although he exhibited only one painting at the first exhibition of the "Union of Youth", an association of Russian avant-garde artists, of which he was a founding member, he showed ten of his works at a group exhibition in Riga just three months later.
