Monturiol, Narciso - Essay on the art of underwater navigation: written by the inventor of the Ictíneo Ó Barco-Pez - Barcelona - Henrich Printing - 1891 - 31 cm - hardcover Number of pieces: 1 Pages: XXIII + 237 pp. - Narcís Monturiol was a Spanish engineer, intellectual, politician, painter and inventor. He was noted for the invention of the first manned and autonomously propelled submarine with a chemical and anaerobic propulsion engine, the Ictíneo. It became the only submarine of this composition until 1940 when the German Navy used Monturiol's principles. Very scarce work, complete of his engravings. Includes three loose engravings: Ictino-monturiol; cross sections, detail of apparatus not contained in the general plans.
