Artist information: actually Rudolf Wilhelm Walther Großmann, also Grossmann, German painter and graphic artist. Painter and graphic artist (1882 Freiburg im Breisgau - 1941 Freiburg im Breisgau), grandson of the Baden court painter Wilhelm Dürr, 1902-1904 studied philosophy and medicine in Munich, 1904-09 in Paris where he was a pupil of Lucien Simon, travelled to Belgium and Holland, from 1910 resident in Berlin where he became friends with Hans Purrmann, 1928 appointed professor at the Kunsthochschule Berlin, after the National Socialists seized power in 1934 dismissed from his professorship, moved to Freiburg im Breisgau and ostracised as degenerate, 206 of his works were confiscated, member of the Berlin Secession and the Deutscher Künstlerbund, source: Thieme-Becker, Dressler, Wikipedia and Internet.
