Venetian mirror of rectangular format, with wooden core and front entirely covered by glass plates decorated with floral motifs and foliage engraved to the wheel. The fine and delicate vegetal pattern is characteristic of this type of Venetian mirror.

Large centerpiece. Murano, 1970's-1980's. In translucent blue glass. Measurements: 8 x 43 x 43 cm. Centerpiece in navy blue Murano glass, with the seat and eaves decorated with organically inspired proliferations, reminiscent of filamentous algae from the bottom of the sea. Murano's reputation as a glassmaking center was born when the Republic of Venice, fearing fires and the destruction of the city's wooden buildings, ordered glassmakers to move their foundries to Murano in 1291. Murano glass is still associated with Venetian glass.
