Attributed to Louis-Marie CORDONNIER (Hauburdin 1854 - Peyrillac 1940) Project for the Palais des Beaux-Arts, Lille Pen and black ink, watercolor over black pencil lines. Titled and captioned. 99 x 65 cm Another survey plan for the same building is attached. Probably by Cordonnier, this plan for the redevelopment and enlargement of Lille's Musée des Beaux-Arts must have been drawn up for the competition launched and voted for by the commune in 1881. A competition, open to French architects, was launched in 1884. Of the eighty-two designs submitted, that of Parisian architects Édouard Bérard and Fernand Delmas was chosen. Construction of the new museum began in August 1885.
