Coffee table. France, 1970s. Gilt brass and glass. It shows signs of use and wear. Measurements: 47 x 100 x 60 cm. The coffee table in tender follows the Hollywood Regency style, a glamorous and singular language of decoration that was the result of the golden age of American cinema, taking as its basis the the theatricality, drama and glamour found in the film productions of the time. Four sharply curved legs converge at the shaft, which supports a bouquet of branches and spikes.

One folding table out of text. Bookbinder's label on flyleaf "Relié sans être confu[sic] par Bisiaux rue de la bucherie n°II". First edition of this famous work, which was banned in France for daring to criticize the depraved procedures of M. de Calonne (Necker's successor at the Ministry) and for which the author was forbidden to return to France. Complete with the supplement at the end of the 2nd volume (pp. 533-536). Some rare small brown spots. A very fine copy on Hollande paper, very well bound, with all errors subsequently corrected (except: II p. 109 "qu'elle..." and III p. 323 "payemnets") (cf. K.E. Carpenter "Economic bestsellers before 1850" XXIX, 5.)
