Description

PIERO FORNASETTI (Italy, 1913 - 1988). Chair "Capitello Corinzio". Beech and betula wood, hand stamped and lacquered. Stamps on the base. Measurements: 95 x 41,5 x 45 cm. Particular design by Piero Fornasetti, always imaginative, who used to use classical elements (here, a Corinthian capital) to redefine his own parameters of postmodern design. Piero Fornasetti was a leading Italian designer, sculptor, painter, interior decorator and engraver. Trained at the Brera Academy in Milan, he was the author of thousands of objects, lighting and furniture pieces with one main decorative theme: the face of the 19th century soprano Lina Cavalieri. He was also known for his expressive use of black and white, as well as the sun motif and other climatological elements. Today his son, Barnaba Fornasetti, continues to create designs for the firm that bears his surname.

CRISTOPHE PILLET (France) for Cappellini. Sunset chair. Italy, 1997. Curved beech plywood frame. Stainless steel base. Upholstery: multi-density polyurethane foam. Upholstered in Siena Hallingdal fabric. Measurements: 75 x 82 x 64 cm. Seat 40 cm. Christophe Pillet's Sunset chair expresses the perfect mastery of sensuality and refinement characteristic of Pillet. It features a swivel design, back and seat in slightly curved wood and satin steel support. Christophe Pillet graduated from the Decorative Arts School in Nice in 1985. He received his Master's degree from the Domus Academy in Milan in 1986. He worked with Martine Bedin in Milan from 1986 to 1988. Collaborated with Philippe Starck in Paris from 1988 to 1993. Since 1993, he has run his own design studio. He was elected designer of the year in 1994. During his career, he has published numerous articles in the most important magazines in the world. Clarity of expression, the search for simplicity and elegance are the fundamental principles that govern Christophe Pillet's work. Pillet is internationally recognized for the broad spectrum and quality of his creations. His signature is invariably associated with the best furniture firms and also with recognized luxury brands such as: Trussardi, Lacoste, Moët et Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, Lancome, Shiseido, l'Oréal, JC Jitrois, Catherine Malandrino, Lancel, Le Tannneur International... The scope and variety of his projects share a common attitude, regardless of scale. Their interpretations are recognized as much for their precision as for their rigor and refinement. If there is a "Pillet style", it is his ability to crystallize, within a project, the emotion of a proposition.
