PERE COSP (Barcelona, 1907-2007). Wall or table lamp, 1948-1949. Rusty, perforated iron (decorated with vegetal fretwork and salamanders). Coloured paper inside. Use marks. Damaged fabric lampshade (loose from the base and frame. The lampshade is superimposed on the base and has no other support). Provenance: House in Llavaneras (Barcelona) with an interior designed entirely by Pere Cosp in 1948-1949, referenced on the website dedicated to the author, perecosp.wordpress.com, which lists the most important interior designs he made for individuals and companies. Measurements: 19,5 x 19,5 x 10 cm.(wall lamp); 26 x 31 x 15 cm.(screen). Pere Cosp was an interior designer from Barcelona. With a largely self-taught background, Pere Cosp redirected the family craft workshop towards interior design and integral decoration. The profession served him to give free rein to his creative talent, intentionally distanced from the fashions and trends of the time. Proof of the non-conformist and restless personality that defined him are the designs of his furniture, which still retain an innovative and transgressive spirit. Cosp attended the Escuela de Artes y Bellos Oficios (School of Arts and Crafts), as well as the perspective classes of Professor Arola. But more important for him was the practical part: entering the family workshop and experiencing at first hand all the trades that were carried out there: gilding, mouldings and all kinds of restoration work. He also worked with the furniture maker Alonso and the decorator Parcerises. Pere Cosp was a pioneer in the use of materials that could be called humble, such as pine wood, chipboard, raffia, etc., which he elevated to a higher level through their treatment and use. He often collaborated with other trades: in the field of metalwork, he worked with Biosca y Botey and Pere Peronella. In this line of collaborations, he produced screen feet, wall sconces, outdoor furniture for gardens, an extensive collection of knobs and handles. The decoration of these elements or the final finishing was always done in the workshop. He made combinations of great beauty: stone, marble - Terra Passani was the main supplier - mosaic, in collaboration with Bru, glass, Granell, enamel, Morató, lacquer, according to drawings by his daughter Guillermina, parchment, with which he made wonderful small tables, doors, bed headboards, etc,

ARMANDO CARDONA TORRANDELL (Barcelona, 1928 - Sant Pere de Ribes, Barcelona, 1995). Untitled, 1957. Acrylic on board. Signed and dated on the back. Measurements: 38x 46 cm; 43 x 51 cm (frame). Cardona Torrandell began his training in the humanities, to later delve into painting. His work, plastic testimony of the current world, is characterized by variegated compositions, full of human faces, calligraphic elements and inscriptions, which define his personal iconography. He organized his work in cycles: "Retablos de la gente" (1956), "Barcas" (1956), "Máquinas" (1957), "Paisajes Concretos" (1960), "Universo concentracional" (1965), "Numancia" (1972), "Naufragios" (1979), etc. He also dedicated some tribute works to Sartre, Antonio Machado, Ungaretti and Lluís Companys. In 1965 he did the scenography for "Ronda de muerte a Sinera", by Espriu-Salvat, and the following year for "La buena persona de Sezuan", by Brecth. He also collaborated with the Sitges Theater Festival. He was associated with the Parpalló Group, and was part of Crónica de la Realidad and Intrarealismo. In 1971 he was awarded the Ynglada-Guillot drawing prize. Cardona Torrandell is currently represented in the Victor Balaguer Museum in Vilanova i la Geltrú, the Vila Casas Foundation, the Rafael Zabaleta Museum and other public and private collections.

Measurements: 60 x 69 cm (print); 80,5 x 121 cm (paper). Co-founder of "Dau al Set" in 1948, Tàpies begins to exhibit in the Salones de Octubre in Barcelona, as well as in the Salón de los Once held in Madrid in 1949. After his first solo exhibition at the Layetanas Galleries, he travels to Paris in 1950, with a grant from the French Institute. In 1953 he had a solo exhibition at Martha Jackson's New York gallery. From then on, his exhibitions, both collective and individual, were held all over the world, in outstanding galleries and museums such as the Guggenheim in New York or the Modern Art Museum in Paris. Since the seventies, anthologies have been dedicated to him in Tokyo, New York, Rome, Amsterdam, Madrid, Venice, Milan, Vienna and Brussels. Self-taught, Tàpies has created his own style within the avant-garde art of the 20th century, combining tradition and innovation in an abstract style but full of symbolism, giving great importance to the material substratum of the work. It is worth mentioning the marked spiritual sense given by the artist to his work, where the material support transcends its state to signify a profound analysis of the human condition. Tàpies' work has been highly valued internationally, being exhibited in the most prestigious museums in the world. Throughout his career he has received numerous awards and distinctions, including the Praemium Imperiale of Japan, the National Culture Prize, the Grand Prize for Painting in France, the Wolf Foundation of the Arts (1981), the Gold Medal of the Generalitat de Catalunya (1983), the Prince of Asturias Prize for the Arts (1990), the Picasso Medal of Unesco (1993) and the Velázquez Prize for the Plastic Arts (2003). Antoni Tàpies is represented in major museums around the world, such as the foundation that bears his name in Barcelona, the Reina Sofía in Madrid, the Guggenheim in Berlin, Bilbao and New York, the Fukoka Art Museum in Japan, the MoMA in New York and the Tate Gallery in London.

FRANCESC GARCIA VILELLA (Barcelona, 1922 - 2001). "Characters and animals". Pair of mixed media drawings on paper. One of them signed. Measurements: 32 x 25 cm; 58 x 51 cm (frame). Painter and draftsman, Francesc García Vilella enters the School of Sant Jordi in Barcelona, although he will soon abandon his studies. After a period dedicated to cartoons, he began his pictorial work, holding his first individual exhibition in 1945, at the Sala Rovira in Barcelona. During these years he was also a contributor to the last issue of the magazine "Dau al Set". He participated in the October Salons of 1948, 1949, 1955 and 1957, held in the Layetanas Galleries of Barcelona, and also took part in the Hispano-American Biennial. In 1950 he exhibited in Mallorca as part of the group Cobalto 49, but he slowly abandoned the exhibition activity in our country and increased his presence abroad.
