Description

PEPE CORTÉS (Barcelona, 1946) for Amat Editor. Pair of low stools "Jamaica", 1991. Steel. With publisher's stamp. Measurements: 55 cm (height). The Jamaica is a stool with a functional and refined design featuring the organic lines of its ergonomic seat, raised on five steel tubes that act as feet. These start from a straight structure that is drastically truncated to create a pyramidal composition that converges at the seat. Interior designer and designer, Pepe Cortés studied at the Eina School in Barcelona, and has carried out countless interior design projects, including the restaurants "Azulete" and "Tragaluz", the Caixa Forum shop-museum, the offices of the Banco Sabadell Atlántico presidency and several exhibitions for the Generalitat de Catalunya. He has also won several FAD interior design awards, as well as the Design Auswahl for his famous "Jamaica" stool. In 2002 he was awarded the Santiago Marco Prize medal, and in 2007 he was named National Design Award. His work has appeared in various publications, and has been shown in exhibitions both in Spain and abroad.
