A hinged and lidded repousse silver wedding box decorated with hand-hammered and engraved flowers and foliage on a spiraling background. The lid is surmounted by a sculptural decoration in the shape of a bird with spread wings. Oval handles. Key lock (key missing and lock out of order). Ottoman work, late 19th century. Weight: 50.4 oz., 1430 g. Provenance: Private collection in Pennsylvania. Dimensions: H: 9 in., (23 cm.)., L: 12 1/2 in., (23 cm.) Very good condition with a nice patina.
