An exceptional collection created by the house of Delta with a great significance: The "dreidel" (Yiddish for spinner) or "sevivon" (Hebrew for wheel), are four-sided spinning tops played by children on Hanukkah. It is said to have been a game devised by Jews to camouflage Torah study in times when it was forbidden by the Greeks. The Hebrew letters on the four sides are (Nes Gadol Haya Sham, נס גדול היה שם "A great miracle happened there") which refer to the miracle of the oil that took place in the Beit Hamikdash in the Holy Land. Made of fine hand-turned resin in white mother-of-pearl effect shade with rhodium-plated rings and finishes. Coiled cap inside which is the dreidel and an engraving of the Star of David. Crown decorated by a dove of peace in relief next to the word "Peace" and clip topped with wheel. Double band decoration on the base of the cap in blue resin and solid silver arabesque border. Cartridge or converter loading system. 14K gold nib. Medium writing point (M). Original case, documentation and warranty card enclosed. It shows slight signs of use and traces of ink.
