Certificate of employment of the city of Gengenbach from 1796 Splendid classicist certificate of employment as copper engraving on laid paper with handwritten additions in ink, next to lavish ornamental decoration at the top centre coat of arms of the city of Gengenbach in Baden-Württemberg, below historical city view, below text "Wir Geschwohrene Zunft und andere Meister des Ehrsamen Handwercks deren Maurer in des H. röm. Roman [Holy Roman] Empire's town of Gengenbach hereby certify that the present journeyman by the name of Nicolaus Mayer, born in Bermensenz [probably meaning Pirmasens], 43 years old, of medium stature and black hair, has been working for us here for 12 weeks ... Gengenbach 30th June 1795 - Guild Master Franziscus Thomas Jägge - Master where the journeyman worked Johan ... Finck.", with embossed paper seal at the bottom, traces of age and folding, framed behind glass in an old veneered frame with squared corners of the 2nd Biedermeier period, sheet dimensions approx. 40 x 46 cm, folded dimensions approx. 43.5 x 47 cm.
