Wooden box, size 19.4 x 28 x 6.2 cm. Double-hinged lid, metal clasp; chromolithograph pasted on the lid showing two buildings: Palais de l'électricité and Grand Palais. The box contains twenty-four solid wooden cubes, each 4 cm square, with a fragment of lithographed image glued to each side / five guide sheets (the sixth is on the lid). [French article N°2]. A set of puzzle cubes on the theme of the Exposition Universelle held in Paris from April 14th to November 12th 1900, which welcomed over 48 million visitors. Correctly arranged cubes are used to reconstitute six boards featuring two buildings (or Exhibition sites): both on the cover / Turkey, Palais de la danse / Russia, Bonshommes Guillaume / Vieux Paris, Suède / Pont Alexandre III, Petit palais / Porte monumentale, Palais du costume. The immense success of the world's fairs at the time gave rise to numerous souvenirs and related products, including this interesting set which, despite a few minor defects (exterior of box a little rubbed, guide boards a little altered), is in fine condition.
