A PAIR OF GREEN GLAZED CERAMIC PARROTS, LATE 17TH TO MID-18TH CENTURY A PAIR OF GREEN GLAZED CERAMIC PARROTS, LATE 17TH TO MID-18TH CENTURY China, early Qing dynasty (1644-1912). Each bird accurately modeled with its wings tucked to the side and perched on an openwork rock base, all covered in moss green glaze. The parrots decorated with neatly incised swirls and lines to denote their feathers. Provenance: US private collection, acquired from an old Austrian private collection. According to the previous owner the pieces were bought in the Chinese market in the 1970s. Condition: Good condition with minor wear, few tiny chips, glaze flaking, and crackling of the glaze. One bird with a small repair to one eye, the other bird with a firing crack along the back, head, and chest. Weight: 500 g and 456 g Dimensions: Height 23.4 cm and 23.5 cm
