A SHIPWRECK BLUE AND WHITE ANNAM PORCELAIN VASE, 16TH CENTURY A SHIPWRECK BLUE AND WHITE ANNAM PORCELAIN VASE, 16TH CENTURY Vietnam, 16th century or slightly later. Of globular form with a short neck, decorated in underglaze blue with blossoms and scrolling vines below a leaf border and above three lines. With an associated wood stand. Provenance: Austrian private collection. Condition: Very good condition with some wear, barnacles, maritime deposits and marks. Weight: 206 g Dimensions: Height 7.1 cm Asian ceramics have been the subject of international and inter-Asian trade for over one thousand years. The bulk of these ceramics were transported by ship, through very dangerous waters. Many of these ships never made it to their final destinations and were lost at sea.
