Inscribed there verso with label with work details by an unknown hand. - Some rubbing along the edges and occasional slight losses of color as traces of framing. Until the 19th century, the lake was regarded as a mystical place shrouded in legend that was still little discovered, let alone familiar. In keeping with this impression, our scene is mysterious. The scene is only enlivened by a few staffage figures on the beach. One of them is a man working as a fisherman. Accompanied by his dog, he is casting his fishing rod, about to snatch the next catch from the sea. - Stylistically, the work can be assigned to the Romantic period; the scene radiates a dark, almost morbid beauty. Oil on wood panel. Framed in a gold-colored stucco frame of the period. Inscribed on the verso with a label with work details by an unknown hand. - Slight rubbing along the edges and occasional losses of color as traces of framing. On the verso the wooden panel with small scratches and ah'dhesive traces. Isolated retouches visible under UV light. Very good overall.
