The work is a model for an illustration in the "Meggendorfer Blätter". - Bluhm studied at the Dresden School of Arts and Crafts and at the Academy of Fine Arts. He later became a pupil of Ferdinand Keller at the academy in Karlsruhe. From 1892 he worked in Meissen. His specialty was the art of illustration. For a long time, he worked for the Munich satirical magazine "Meggendorfer Blätter" and mainly painted scenes with glamorous ladies and scenes depicting the life of high society.
