Copy after the painting of the same name by the Baroque painter Carlo Cignani (1628 - 1719). - Depicted is the biblical scene from the Book of Genesis, the attempt to seduce Joseph by Potiphar's wife. Joseph, who was deported to Egypt as a slave, worked his way to an honorable position with Potiphar. Offended by the rejection, the woman then accused Joseph of approaching her indecently. As a consequence, Joseph was innocently thrown into prison. Oil on wood panel. Framed in a gold-colored stucco frame with vegetal and ornamental decoration. - The wooden panel with few creases due to age. Partially with faint traces of rubbing due to the frame. Varnish slightly yellowed. At all good.
