Complete. Full contemporary calf, 5 ribbed spine, ornamented boards, red title and giblets, speckled edges. Binding has been recently restored (spines and headbands). Correct inside (a few minor flaws of no consequence). This edition was followed by a supplement on tides in 1781. This is the work in which LA LANDE, one of the greatest astronomers of the 18th century, synthesized his knowledge of the time.

A monumental study of military costume, theoretically illustrated with 192 color plates by Job and numerous in-text drawings in black and color. Job's most important scholarly work, maniacally precise, but not without a certain humor at times. The rarest Book of Job. The work was subscribed and published in issues, each containing four plates out of text in black (for the cheaper edition) or in color (for the deluxe edition); two issues - which were not bound - are missing from our copy (one in volume 2, one in volume 4), which therefore contains 184 / 192 color plates out of text of Job. The title page of volume 3 is addressed to Leroy, dated 1904. A rare set despite this original defect.
