Religious costumes. [Costumi della corte di Roma [Rome], [2nd half of 19th c.]. Accordion-fold in-12 album (10.9 x 7.7 cm), publisher's hardback folder and slipcase covered with red chagrined paper. Charming album of costumes from the Court of Rome, featuring 30 beautiful hand-colored engravings with Italian captions: vestments of the Pope, cardinals, Latin, Greek, Armenian and Syrian bishops, prelates, secret chamberlains, Swiss guards, etc. Handwritten in ink "Rome, 1870". On upper flyleaf: armorial bookplate of Baron de Cougny-Préfeln (1862-1942), cavalry officer residing at Château de Remeneuil, near Châtellerault, and another bookplate in morocco. Slight wear to dust jacket and slipcase, otherwise a very good copy.
