A LARGE TAPESTRY WITH LEOPARDS HUNTING PHEASANTS A LARGE TAPESTRY WITH LEOPARDS HUNTING PHEASANTS Japan, 19th century The rectangular tapestry woven in hues of beige and brown, depicting three leopards in a forest, shown in dynamic poses, two in attempt to catch a pheasant flying above, and the third about to devour a pheasant, a faint seal mark to the lower left corner, and all within a silk brocade frame. The reverse lined with a cotton fabric decorated with birds and butterflies amid scrolling blossoms. SIZE 206.5 x 146 cm Condition: Good condition with some wear, small tears, creasing, loose threads, minor soiling, and browning.
