Provenance: Phoenix Ancient Art Gallery, Switzerland /Ars Histórica Arqueología, Spain, 2014; Exhibited: Ifergan Collection, Málaga (2018-2020). Measurements: 51 x 47 cm. The centaur is an icon of the struggle between barbarism and civilization. Its body consists of human head, torso and arms, and the legs become the quadrupedal body of a horse. Usually depicted in male form, they represent the strength and vigor of an animal. We can see how this magnificently sculpted torso carries a staff in his hand, as if he were in a fight, which was one of the main characteristics of the centaurs, always bellicose.
