W., North Rhine-Westphalia, from before 1980; Purchased at auction, December 2022, Munich (Germany). Measurements: 8 cm. Oil lamps, also called candles or lanterns, are used by various ancient civilizations, from prehistoric times, through the ancient Egyptians, to the present day. The lantern is a container filled with oil in which a wick is placed on a ledge and lit, bringing light to the home.
