Zoomorphic vessel; Chimila Culture, Colombia, A.D. 1000-1500. Terracotta. It presents slight losses in the mouth. Measurements: 16.5 x 15.5 x 12 cm. Vessel of zoomorphic body adorned with incisions. The Chimilas or Ette Ennaka are an indigenous people of the Andes of northeastern Colombia. At the time of the Spanish colonization of America they were established in most of the Cesar river basin and its valley, between the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and the Serranía del Perijá and bordering the Magdalene river. The Chimila society was structured in a pyramidal form with a working class divided into fishermen, hunters, artisans, miners, goldsmiths and traders. The Chimila used the Arhuacos as slaves. The Chimila believed in an immortal figure called Masirguta and were monotheistic believing in the god Narayajana. It presents slight losses in the mouthpiece.
