A LACQUER STAND FOR A HIBACHI (BRAZIER), EDO A LACQUER STAND FOR A HIBACHI (BRAZIER), EDO Japan, 19th century, Edo period (1615-1868) The stand of square form with incurved corners, supported on four cabriole legs, decorated in gold and silver hiramaki-e, the top with aoi mon issuing scrolling vines and paulownia, the feet with swirling clouds and vines, all on roiro ground. The corners and feet with gilt and silvered copper fittings incised with a floral design, fitted with a circular copper basin embossed with aoi mon above scrolling vines. SIZE 54.4 x 54.5 x 23.1 cm WEIGHT 6,216 g Condition: Good condition with old wear, light surface scratches, nicks, warping, and few natural age cracks with associated repairs and touchups. The basin with traces of use as well as malachite incrustations.
