Probably these solids with the name ROMOB instead of the usual COMOB were struck in the Rome recaptured by the Byzantine general Belisarius who had defeated the Visigoths of King Vitiges in 536. - BB

In fine condition, with heavy overall toning, and an identifying collector's slip affixed below the signature

LS in Spanish, signed “Yo El Rey,” one page, 8.25 x 11.5, January 1585. Untranslated letter pertaining to Spanish affairs, prominently signed at the conclusion in ink by King Philip II. Retains the white paper seal affixed on the reverse In fine condition.
