Balestrieri Pinx. / W. Leo Arndt sculps.". At the lower part inscribed in the printing plate: "Beethoven". Date: 19th century Description: The artwork shows a bourgeois interior scene in which a violinist in profile performs a piece of music in a practised manner. People are grouped in the background, listening attentively to the performance, some of them in dark clothing, which contributes to the subdued mood of the scene. The depiction is detailed and rich in contrast, with the interior and the figures executed with great delicacy, thus focussing the viewer's interest on the central musical event.
