JOAN SERRA MELGOSA (Lérida, 1899 - Barcelona, 1970). "Salardú", 1930. Oil on canvas. Signed in the lower left corner. Signed and located on the back. Published in "Juan Serra painter", plate XXII, by Juan Cortés, Edit. Argos. Barcelona, 1942. Measurements: 50 x 66 cm. Joan Serra Melgosa was formed in the School of the Fish market of Barcelona, where he was a disciple of Francesc Labarta. Member of the group The Evolutionists, he exhibits for the first time in 1918. In 1925 he traveled to Madrid, where he became especially interested in El Greco, and two years later he spent a few months in Paris. He was closely linked to the Sala Parés in Barcelona, where he exhibited regularly since 1927. He exhibited in the main Spanish capitals, in addition to participating in exhibitions in Paris, London, Pittsburgh, Buenos Aires, Montevideo and Caracas. His awards include the Barcelona City Council award in 1931 and the Jaume Morera gold medal in 1950. He is represented in the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona and in the Museum of Fine Arts of Lérida.

FRANCESC TODÓ GARCÍA (Tortosa, Tarragona, 1922 - Barcelona, 2016). "Like a drawing of Joan Gris", 1975. Oil on canvas. Signed and dated in the lower right corner. Signed, dated and titled on the back. With Sala Parés label on the back. Measurements: 54 x 65 cm; 56 x 67 cm (frame). Todó was formed in Barcelona, in the School of La Lonja, and in 1946 he made his individual debut in the Vinçon room. He participated in the Salones de Octubre and the Salones de Mayo in Barcelona, and in 1952 he won the Rosa Vera engraving prize. Two years later he won the special drawing prize at the Third Jazz Salon, and obtained a scholarship for a study trip to France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Great Britain. He has held several personal exhibitions in Madrid, Paris, Palma de Mallorca, Bilbao, Valencia and Illinois (USA). In 1969 he was appointed professor of painting at the Universidad de los Andes in Bogota, and during these years he held exhibitions in Cali and Mexico City. As a set designer, he has worked on Xavier Montsalvatge's "Una voz en off" and Joan Oliver's "Bestiario". He has also worked in engraving, monotype and drawing. In 2001 he received the Sant Jordi Cross from the Generalitat de Catalunya, in recognition of his artistic career. Francesc Todó is currently represented at MACBA.

FRANCESC GARCIA VILELLA (Barcelona, 1922 - 2001). "Characters and animals". Pair of mixed media drawings on paper. One of them signed. Measurements: 32 x 25 cm; 58 x 51 cm (frame). Painter and draftsman, Francesc García Vilella enters the School of Sant Jordi in Barcelona, although he will soon abandon his studies. After a period dedicated to cartoons, he began his pictorial work, holding his first individual exhibition in 1945, at the Sala Rovira in Barcelona. During these years he was also a contributor to the last issue of the magazine "Dau al Set". He participated in the October Salons of 1948, 1949, 1955 and 1957, held in the Layetanas Galleries of Barcelona, and also took part in the Hispano-American Biennial. In 1950 he exhibited in Mallorca as part of the group Cobalto 49, but he slowly abandoned the exhibition activity in our country and increased his presence abroad. Thus, he held exhibitions in Vienna (1957, 1983), Venice (1960), Paris (1965, 1979), Düsseldorf (1970), Mannheim (1973, 1978), Perugia (1974), Munich (1984), etc. His work is present in various public and private collections.
