CHINA - DAOGUANG PERIOD (1821-1850) Porcelain baluster-shaped snuff bottle decorated in iron red with a dragon in clouds, on the other side a phoenix among clouds. On the reverse, the four-character Daoguang mark in zhuanshu. Red coral stopper (corallium rubrum) H. 5.8 cm. Wear to decoration, stopper and stem detached and fixed with patafix. Fine small iron casket Iron with fine brass and pewter inlay. Rectangular body over four spherical baluster feet. Hinged lid with a central cartouche with eight folded edges and depiction of a basket of flowers, crowned by a stylized eagle and surrounded by leaf and flower branches. The wall decorated all around with flower festoons. Lock with key on the front. H. 5.5 cm. 9.3 cm x 6.5 cm. Provenance: from the Michahelles Collection, Hamburg, which has grown over generations. A French iron, brass and tin casket. With key. France. 19th century.
