† AN AMUSING WOOD ‘TAKOTSUBO’ SAGEMONO SET † AN AMUSING WOOD ‘TAKOTSUBO’ SAGEMONO SET Signed Japan, Meiji period (1868-1912) The tonkotsu (tobacco container) carved with an octopus (tako) attempting to break out of a pot trap (tsubo), its tentacles flaying around—two positioned over its head functioning as cord holders. The ensuite kiseruzutsu (pipecase) carved in the form of an octopus, and the lacquered ojime incised with aquatic life. Signed to the back of the octopus. LENGTH (tonkotsu) 9.2 cm, LENGTH (kiseruzutsu) 20.5 cm Condition: Good condition with wear and natural imperfections. Minuscule nicks, few chips, some flaking, surface abrasion, and minor losses. Touchups to the tonkotsu. 13% VAT will be added to the hammer price additional to the buyer's premium - only for buyers within the EU.

Two himotoshi through the side and underside of the bag. LENGTH 3.6 cm Condition: Very good condition with minor wear and firing irregularities.
